finding the evidence to help teachers succeed
finding the evidence to help teachers succeed
We are a group of science education experts who first came together to research the level of maths skills of PGCE teachers. We found that they were shockingly unequipped, with the vast majority unable to confidently and correctly mark students' work.
Now we're finding out how to fix it.
Ally was a physics teacher for more than 20 years, before leading teacher support at Isaac Physics (now Isaac Science) and the Institute of Physics. He then worked at Cambridge Assessment until his (semi-)retirement this year. As well as teacher maths skills, he is interested in inclusive teaching, curriculums and examination.
Caroline has been a tireless and enthusiastic promoter of geophysics and astronomy to both hundreds of school children and other physics teachers over the last ten years. After being a postdoctoral researcher, she worked in schools for more than ten years. She is now a senior lecturer at Leeds Trinity University.
Liz is a science education consultant with more than 15 years of experience as a teacher, head of department and assistant principle in schools. As well as delivering CPD, she is an examiner for OCR and Cambridge International and joined the OCR A Level Physics Practical Endorsement Monitoring team in 2023.
